Rockmee FAQ
New firmware released to fix a bug
that cause some RockMee players to freeze
A firmware bug had been identified which may cause some RockMee
players to hang. The player would freeze when pressing ESC
key during video viewing, especially if the player is being
charged. This firmware bug only exists in some of the RockMee
players sold between mid-October through early December. Your
player may NOT need this firmware fix. Click here for more
information.
Blue screen crash problem reported
when copying music album into player's music folder
A customer reported problem with performing multiple album
copy/paste actions. There is no problem to perform multiple
copy/paste of music files, but if you tried to perform multiple
copy/paste actions that include folder structures (for example,
artist and album directory and sub-directory), you might get
a blue-screen crash on your computer.
This has something to do with the fact that when you copy
an album, you are also copying the album cover photo. This
may be causing problems with the device by copying image files
into the music directory. We recommend that you only copy
music files but not album art.
Why do I get "File Format Error"
or "HDS Error"?
These error messages are caused by trying to play a license-protected
music or video file. These files are also known as DRM-protected
music. Please see below for more information and resolution.
Having problem playing DRM-protected
music?
DRM is an acronym for Digital Rights Management, a broad
term used to describe a number of techniques for restricting
the free use and transfer of digital content. DRM is used
in a number of media, but is most commonly found in video
and music files. There are many who argue that DRM is a misnomer,
since it deals with use issues rather than the rights of the
consumer. They therefore reinterpret DRM to stand for Digital
Restrictions Management. As paying consumers learn more about
DRM technology and civil liberties, many of them become outraged
that they no longer "own" their music, movies, or
software. Yet at the same time, how do music distributors
and artists reasonably get paid for every copy of their work?
The answer, like any digital copyright issue, is unclear at
best.
Our player may not play music or video files that are DRM-protected.
However, many DRM-removal applications are currently available
on internet for purchase. These applications can convert protected
WMA and M4P music files and resave them into unprotected files
that can be played on almost any device. Please search on
internet for more information on DRM removal.
We recommend that you purchase DRM-FREE digital contents.
DRM-FREE media have been widely available from the most popular
music download sites such as iTunes (iTunes Plus format only),
Best Buy, eMusic... and more.
Why can't I play some of the music
files purchased from iTunes?
Some iTunes music and video files use DRM-protected ACC format,
which means they can't be played in many MP3 or media players
other than iPod. However, Apple recently made exciting announcement
that the entire EMI Music's entire digital catalog of music
will be available for purchase DRM-FREE from iTunes® Store.
For more information from iTunes, please click here.
Why can't I play some of the music
files purchased from Walmart or Napster?
Music files purchased from Walmart and Napster are DRM-protected
WMA format. Please see "Having problem playing DRM-protected
music? What is DRM anyway?" link above for more information.
DRM removal
Many DRM removal shareware and freeware are available for
download. Please search Google for "DRM removal"
for more information.

The USB dust cover is stuck underneath
the player body, how can I pull it up again?
At times, you might had pushed too hard and the USB dust
cover is stuck underneath the player body. To pull the USB
cover out, please follow the instructions below.
Insert a small flat-headed screwdriver in the end and pry
the cover up (see picture below).
Please keep the small pulling ear outside the player body
when covering it again (see picture below).
A small trick will help is to pull the cover gently to the
opposite direction from the cover base before covering it,
this will ensure that the small ear stays on top of the USB
opening.
